🗓️ ON THIS DAY
On this day in 2003, Sir Bobby Robson’s, Newcastle United beat Man City 3-0 in front of 52,000 at St James' Park.
Shola Ameobi opened the scoring, followed by a brace from Alan Shearer, as the Magpies continued their strong form in the Premier League, going on to finish the season in 5th place.
📋 THE GAME PLAN
6 Games Unbeaten Against the Hammers for Howe: Here’s Everything You Need to Know ⚒️
⏱️ Mon at 8pm | 🏟️ St James Park | 📺 Sky Sports
After two impressive back-to-back wins, Newcastle are aiming for their first three-game Premier League winning streak since September 2023.
West Ham, currently sitting in 14th place, are six points behind us (8th) - with only a single point separating us from Chelsea in 3rd, this is a golden opportunity to climb even further.
And it gets better - West Ham are a team that we have been particularly dominant against in recent encounters, as we have only lost one in our last 10 league meetings.
In fact under Eddie Howe, we’re unbeaten in all 5 with 2 wins and 3 draws - last time coming back from 3-1 down to win 4-3.
"For the neutral it would have been a brilliant game. The most important thing for us was, from a really difficult position, that we showed that spirit that we've always had, that you're never out of the game.
But for us, it's a totally different game and it's going to be a challenging game for us - we're keen to keep our momentum."
Alexander Isak has scored in every match against West Ham so far and will be hoping to extend his current goal streak to five games.
Interestingly, Harvey Barnes has also been a consistent top-performer against the Hammers, contributing with a goal or assist in his last four encounters against them.
In contrast to our fantastic defensive record this season, West Ham’s defence has been a little shaky, conceding a league-high 35 goals away from home in 2024.
On top of this, they’ve failed to score in their last two premiere league matches, although we do find ourselves level over the last 5 games, with 7 goals each.
With these stats in mind, this match is a huge opportunity for us to move them further up the table as we look to close the single point gap between us and 3rd.
